My First Nephew!... and other stuff.

My Brother Sam and his wife Brittney had a baby boy on Thursday. His name is James Samuel Strebel (son of Samuel James Strebel); he was born at 3:45 pm, weighed 8lb-0oz., and was 21 inches long. So exciting! He is the first niece/nephew in the family, so he is sure to be spoiled. The only problem is that they live so far away in Texas. Bummer.

Trip to California

Last weekend James and I went to my parent’s house in Running Springs California. It is so nice to go home. I love it. The weather was great and it’s so fun to spend time with family. We didn’t do anything terribly exciting, just relaxed and enjoyed each others company. This is the only picture I have from the trip which was taken on the way

Oh yeah, we took my new car, a Nissan 350Z convertible. It is so much fun. I’ve always always always wanted a convertible, but this is not only a convertible, it’s kind of a race car too. We decided to just get it before we start a family and such.


One more exciting thing we are looking for ward to is our Cruise. In less than a month we will be taking a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon and I can’t wait!! We are going to Jamaica, Haiti, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. It’s going to be so great. James and I have never been on a cruise before so we are very excited!! The temperature here is in the one hundred and teens (is that how you say it?) so we will welcome a week away from it, although I hear this is the hottest time of the year there too.

We have also been working on our garden and learning which things do and don’t grow here in Las Vegas. We’ve posted some pictures on the Beesley Garden blog…

Goodbye MJ

I have a lot of fond memories of Michael Jackson. I remember when I was growing up we had a VHS of "The Making of Thriller" which included several of the music videos from the "Thriller" album. It took you through the whole process of the making of the video from makeup and warderobe, to coreography. We wore that tape out watching it over and over.

I think my earliest MJ memory was seeing the posters and pictures and folders that my cousin Amy had in her room. For some reason, I especially remember the picture of him in the yellow sweater vest. Granted he got a really weird really quick, but a gifted performer and artist nonetheless. My sister Lisa even got to go to "Neverland Ranch" for a day. Don't worry, Michael wasn't there. I don't remember the circumstances around her trip there, but she had fun. Lisa is a HUGE MJ fan. She is greiving right now too. I think she's had nothing but Michael on her IPOD for the last week.

Michael Jackson is a concert that I've always said I would pay anthing to see. Oh well, I guess I'll never know ...

I Passed My Test!!

I've been studying for the last few months (but mostly the last 2 weeks) for the L.E.E.D. exam (Leadership in Energy and Enviornmental Design) . It's a super hard test with about a 35% pass rate, but I did it! I studied so hard and it paid off, I am now a LEED Accredited Professional...

What does that mean... exactly... well...

"LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System."

I guess I can help design green stuff,
and hopefully keep my job longer,
and be able to sign my name "Laura Beesley, LEED AP"

Washington

Last weekend James and I had a wonderful weekend in Bellingham Washington. This is actually where he grew up. Not only did I get to see how beautiful it is up there, but I got to meet his step-mother Kathie for the first time, as well as his Aunt JoAnne and Uncle Ronnie from Kansas. They were all so wonderful. I haven’t met much of James’ Dad’s side of the family, so it was a real treat.

We all went out to dinner at a seafood restaurant at the marina

for James' birthday. It was delicious.

The house James grew up in used to be a barn. It is such a

neat house and has a beautiful kitchen with windows everywhere.

we were there was to go through the shed/workshop.

Ok, so I’m a day (or three) late, but better late then never.

I just wanted you to know how much I love you and how happy I am that I get you FOREVER!!! You are such a good man and I am so proud of you and all that you do.

Funny Blog...

So, while browsing Bakerella, I came across this other blog... it is hilarious. Cake Wrecks. When you have some spare time, and are looking for a laugh you should check it out.

New Things.

For Mothers day (even though I'm not a mother) James got me an awesome new phone!! It's a Blackberry which does way more than than any phone should, and way more than I need right now but I love it. I just need to download some games so it becomes a glorified game boy (which can also double as a phone sometimes).



You know how you say there are certian things that you would never do?... Well I can think of two of them right now... wearing capri pants (which I do ALL the time) and buying a pair of Croc's.... which obviously I did. They are so comfortable and the fact that they are pink really takes away from the ugliness of them... I think. I'll just keep telling myself that anyway.
